With Ben Crenshaw, the architect of the minimalist revival: Sand Hills in 1995 showed that the best modern course might be the one on which the least was built. Coore walks a site for months before a shape is drawn, routes around what the land already offers, and keeps the greens open to the running shot. Width, angles and firm turf are the signatures.
