C.B. Macdonald

The father of American golf architecture. Macdonald studied the great holes of Britain, built the National Golf Links of America in 1911 as a course of templates — Redan, Alps, Eden, Biarritz — and with Seth Raynor spread the idea across the country. A Macdonald course is a lesson in strategy borrowed from St Andrews and Prestwick.
