The most prolific American architect of the last half-century, with a run of private clubs from the 1980s on that set the standard for finish. Fazio builds broad, handsome, playable courses that flatter the eye and rarely bite; the land is moved freely and the result is meant to look as though it never was. Look for the framing — every hole is composed like a photograph — and for greens that accept the shot they are shown.
